How many WORDS do you write per day?
How many WORDS do you write per day?: "I write maybe an article every week, anything between 1,000 to 10,000 words. And as for pictures, they do speak a 1,000 words and they set you apart from the rest of the crowd. They are the method for providing content on the web at a level that a book (at any reasonable cost) cannot provide. To take that picture requires time in many cases, costs you in others, but readers like them. Words and pictures go together on the web sites."

Link Baiting & Effective Link Building
Link Baiting & Effective Link Building: "With link building there are essentially 5 types of “hooks” or pages built to encourage links. They are: News, Contrary, Attack, Resource and Humor."
eureka! -- a breakthrough with adsense
eureka! -- a breakthrough with adsense: "Providing advertising for the benefit of the readers. A page swamped with sneaky Adsense adverts may trick people into clicking, but it's a short-lived fantasy. Clear links relevant to the subject, of use to the reader, will naturally generate interest because of the mutual benefit. Excessive advertising just annoys readers. "

"How do I get more traffic to my blog?" from the Ask Dave Taylor! Tech Support Blog: "the core answer is actually pretty easy: the best way to generate traffic for your blog is to reframe the question. Instead of asking 'how to I get more visitors to my site?' you need to be asking the question 'how do I become part of the blogosphere discussion?'"

I started the Colbie Caillat blog when she was top of Myspace unsigned. when she got signed and released an album I was in great position in the google searches to take advantage:"

How many WORDS do you write per day?
How many WORDS do you write per day?: "I never updated a site in many many years. So non? Its not about how many words or pages you have. Its not about continually adding stuff for the sake of it. I wrote what I did 7 or 8 years ago for the fun of sharing useful information about a diverse bunch of stuff/hobbies etc. When I finished I had nothing else of any 'real value' use to say. The stuff I wrote I did because I understood more about those subjects than anyone else did. Thats still the case. Its about building a website that people want/find useful/offers something new/saves people money or time/shows them how to do something/shares experiences or whatever. But for it to work it needs to be a new, fresh idea or something that isnt already out there at the very least. There no point in being a 'me too' because it does not work unless you have more to offer than the best of the rest. You site must be head and shoulders above the rest for it to get the natural links and PR to be a success. Just writing more and more pages that you have no passion for to stick ads on is a recipe for mediocrity. Your question. How much content can you produce each day? Is the wrong question. You need to think what can I offer the visitor? Less is more - quality is whats important not pages of text with ads on. "

$300/day Screenshot for the adsense newbies - Page 2
$300/day Screenshot for the adsense newbies - Page 2: "Yes for this particular niche there are days where you will get mad traffic. That's where your list building comes in handy ! Then you can setup a forum around that site and provide even more resources for those people. Then they keep coming back and adding their OWN content which means less work from you plus quality content. All this adds up, with great SERPS and you have a money making machine."

How I made a million in 3 months.
How I made a million in 3 months.: "Lots of hard work, and a billion+ pageviews :)
I am without a doubt the top individual adsense publisher in terms of pageviews. Me talking about how I did it won't help you, but here is what i found you need to be successful in adsense.
1. Get a database of IP's so you know where your traffic is coming from. Then create channels for each country. Its not uncommon to see US traffic with a CPM of $5.00 and a CDN traffic at 20 cents and vice versa. If you have access to the hints option, give different hints based on IP. ie if your page is about 401k plans, that won't get you anything outside of the USA.
2. You have to create sites that will bring in repeat traffic. If you think you will get rich off SEO think again. If you create a Free jobs site you could net 30 million + a year if you got big. Club listings site, free religious personals etc would all be big money makers. Look for established markets and offer a service for free and support it with adsense.
3. Have your users create content and lots of it. User reviews of night clubs, Resorts, golf courses etc. Build your site around your users and make them part of your site, don't build your site for consumption.
4. Do not enter markets with a lot of competition monitized via adsense. Try and undercut paid content markets by offering a free service, or better yet create your own market.
5. Keep your site dead simple, it has to load fast and have no more then 2 ads and 1 or 2 pictures other then your logo. Do not confuse your user, give them what they want and give it to them fast.
6. Troll around various forums and if people are not talking about your market, there is a good chance you will make money." markus007

Planning Ahead for Link Building
"Before I start a site I will have a look at the whole neighbourhood around that subject. Sooner or later I will stumble across 'nests' of quality sites adjacent to my proposed space. Quality means in this sense that they may be quality in the way that they link out, or the way that they are linked to by an authority site, or in some other way.
Before I even start on the site, I will consider how to integrate a honeypot for those particular sites that might encourage them to link to me. Once my site is active, I will try to make them aware of that section." stever

Mine your Logs
"Analyzing 1-hop queries (visitor arrived via Google, looked at only the landing page, and left), finding clusters of terms that the landing page simply could not have satisfied well, building content to address those queries, redesigning the original page to link conveniently and naturally to the new content, and then letting the stats tell me whether I successfully created a bunch of 2-hop queries or not.
If I can analyze the logs to arrive at a per-page theory about incoming visitor needs, and then prove that theory by building content and confirming revised visitor behavior, then I'm pretty sure I'm building a valuable information source -- even if it's only recognized by individual visitors going after specific queries." ronburk

Tight Niche, High CTR
"I have noticed a lot of small things that can have a huge effect on the CTR. As someone mentioned earlier, niche pages work best - this means breaking down your hierarchy into more categories if needed (and possible)" CainIV

Increase CTR using Tightly Focused Pages
"For my 2 worth of opinion, I'd add that the difference is often how tightly focused each page you put up is. Look, your goal - beyond getting lots of traffic - is to have ads shown on your pages that are truly targeted to your topic on each individual page. Looking around the web, I see lots of pages with very generic AS ads showing. I'd bet a lot that they're the ones getting 1% or less CTR. If someone got to your site from a search engine where they searched for 'red plastic widgets' and your page is about all kinds of widgets, sure, a few will probably click your AS ads. But imagine how many more would click them if your page was all about red plastic widgets (and nothing else). They'll either buy from you, hit the back button, or click one of your highly targeted AS ads that should also be about that type of widget.
So my advice (as someone who averages well over 25% CTR on 11 sites) is to post pages that are extremely focused on one product, idea, or service. Don't stray. If you're tempted to transition into a related topic, put up another page about it! I'll bet your CTR shoots way up if you're stuck in the 1%-3% range right now." Swebbie

Traffic from Forums
"... most of mine [traffic] comes from forums etc and other sites linking to me because I have some very useful unique content on a bunch of sites / subjects. And I get 100 dollars a day average, over two years with only 1200 uniques, or 3.5k page views daily.

Useful Unique Content

Secret is GENUINE useful unique content on a few different subject niche / hobby sites. And I seldom add or update anything.
And google search hates me." Nitrous

Ad Placement
"on the few micro sites I am running (just start up things - special interests of mine) where I have placed the ads in the left hand column, the CTR and CPM have been huge - sometimes 10 times or more my usual placements of leaderboard or right hand column - this seems to me to be the hottest spot, other than stuff right in the middle of the page or 'content'." webpro00801
